DESIGN DIARY: Suntrust Shanata Project

SUNTRUST SHANATA PROJECT: A Minimal Contemporary Two-Bedroom Condo Unit

This 36 sqm. Two-Bedroom Condo Unit located at Suntrust Shanata is designed in a Minimal Contemporary style, making the whole unit spacious, fresh, and airy.

Cove ceilings and wall mirrors were installed to create an illusion of a high-ceiling and a wider wall space. All throughout the unit, customized pieces can be found such as the sofa and console table from made by arc, and the closet wardrobes. The 3-piece artwork, entitled Phenomena, was created especially for this condo unit as I tend to make special art pieces to my clients as gifts.

I've shared the construction phase a few days ago. And before I finally showcase photos of this condo project, let me first show you the rendered perspectives vs. the actual design project and a few snaps of the before and after because I want to satisfy myself (hahaha).

Since my client trusted me with everything, I made sure that the actual design is extremely close to the perspectives that I proposed. And so, that's what I did.

As I've stated in my construction phase post, I wasn't able to take decent before shots so these were the only ones I got but I guess, they would do. The unit was bare and newly-bought. So designing it was like painting on a blank canvas and I love that!

Now, here are the photos of this 36 sqm. two-bedroom condo unit which I designed. I asked my friend, Rhon Felip Susbilla to shoot it for me. He's wonderful!

The focal point of the living area is this white-bricked wall with a blue made by arc sofa. The ceiling is coved with a circular minimalistic cool white drop light. The cove light is warm white to set the mood when the sun is down. At the brick wall hangs this 3-piece artwork I gifted to my client.

This 500mm x 850 mm (each frame) artwork was created to make the whole look of the condo unit cohesive.

The akita foyer console table, made of hardwood, is also by made by arc

The dining area is very minimal with plain off-white walls, a glass dining table and gray dining chairs.

A close-up of the center piece and of the table runner.

The base cabinets and the counter top were already existing in the unit and we kept them. However though, I asked my workers to re-laminate the base cabinets into this light wood finish because I want to add a little texture to the area. The gray counter top is retained.

The wall cabinets for this kitchen isn't modular. I asked my workers to build them for me and they did a great job!

The tile backsplash makes the whole kitchen interesting and elegant. It's actually a conversation starter as my suppliers keep on talking about it upon entering the unit.

The color scheme of the Master's Bedroom is a little more mature but I still kept it sleek and very elegant.

The bed has a pull-out drawer for extra storage.

The lighting of the Master's Bedroom is actually fun because the mounted center light is 3-way (lighting changes from cool white to daylight to warm white). The cove lighting is warm white to set the mood at night.

The bedroom's color scheme is back to white, blue, and gray tones. Since this room is tiny, the bed has pull-out drawers for extra storage.

I had a lot of fun working on this condo project - from conceptualizing to construction to sourcing, shopping, and making the furniture pieces!

Thank you so much to my workers for doing a great job in implementing my design and making it come to life. Thank you so much to my bully best friend for the continuous support and guidance. Your opinions matter to me. hehe. Huge thank you to my dad for being my contractor and for looking after this project all through out! Thanks also to my family for all the support and help!

And thank you so much to my client for the trust! :)
