Go down the DIY route

If you want to save money on your project, the best thing to do is go down the DIY route. Yes, it might take more time to do, but by opting to go down the DIY route, you can save yourself a lot of money.

If there is anything that you aren’t sure how to do, such as painting like a professional, you can always watch tutorials online. Youtube has thousands of tutorials for DIY so make sure to take advantage of them if you get stuck with anything.

Choose a neutral color scheme

When it comes to choosing a color scheme for your entertainment room, opt for something neutral. This is important as if you want to change the style at any time, it will be much easier to do.

What I would be tempted to do is paint the walls in a neutral color, like white or cream, and then use soft furnishings and decor to add color and style. This is great, as you can easily change the style whenever you want, without having to spend too much.

Get the basics right

When it comes to creating an awesome entertainment room, getting the basics right is crucial. Things like the style of flooring that you opt for, the type of lighting, and style of furniture are all important elements.

For the flooring, it’s best to opt for something that’s easy to clean, especially if you expect your games room to get a lot of foot traffic. Carpets get dirty quickly, so it’s best to opt for flooring that's easy to clean, such as wood or laminate.

The type of lighting that you choose should not be too harsh - bright overhead lights are a big no-no. Either install a dimmer switch, so that you can dim your overhead lighting, or use table lamps to light the room.

When it comes to choosing the furniture for your entertainment room, the key is to choose a sofa that is as comfortable as possible. It’s also a good idea to opt for a sofa that’s made of leather, as the material is easy to clean.

As well as having a sofa, it’s a good idea to invest in some extra seating, like floor cushions or maybe a large bean bag chair. You want your entertainment room to be as comfortable as possible, so having lots of plush seating is a must. Believe it or not, you can find lots of sofas and beanbags at low prices online, so don’t worry about the money.

Buy your equipment second-hand

When it comes to investing in a television and surround sound system for your entertainment room, things can get expensive. However, if you take the time to shop around and are open to buying second-hand, you can keep things affordable.

Believe it or not, you can create an amazing entertainment room even when on a budget. So if money is tight, there is no need to worry.
