Co-presented by Wilcon Depot and GMA News TV's Home Base, to kick-off the start of Season 14 of the popular home-related series, the first of the RL Style Talks series gathered three industry experts that discussed Modern Filipino design and examined how the nation's growing list of renowned architects, interior designers, and furniture makers were helping revolutionize the Filipino design aesthetic today. The panelists were interior and furniture designer and design educator Wilan Dayrit, designer Grace Moslares, and James Razo.

Bathrooms are the hardest room in the house to decorate. But, when you have a couple of tricks up your sleeve, they suddenly become a lot easier to understand. The trouble is, where do you find those essential trade secrets that will make all the difference? Professionals designers don’t want to hand over their expertise without some payment, and not everyone can afford a pro. Look no further because we have stumbled across a few trade secrets that we are willing to share. Just don’t tell anyone. It’s a secret!

Room Size

Always consider the size of your bathroom before you decorate. The size will determine what you go with decorations wise. For example, if you have a long and narrow bathroom, your furnishings should be slender and sleek. Don’t try and fit square pegs into round holes because that is when the problems start.

Quality Sanitary Ware

Your bathroom needs to be efficient. Otherwise, there is no point is having a bathroom in the first place. Remember that substance is much more important than style. Buying quality is important because you don’t tend to change your sink or your shower. So, if your furnishings are not perfect from the beginning, you might be stuck with them for the foreseeable future.

Cover Over The Cracks

When it comes to cracks and crevices, Tubby UK has got you covered. Your bathroom cannot have any repairs, regardless of how small, if it is to be pretty and successful. For starters, cracks and flaws will affect the efficiency of your bathroom, so you might not be purely decorative because it leaks water. Also, your bath will look rugged and damaged with a massive crack running through the material.

Get Organised

It is only a small tip, but it makes a huge difference. Regardless of the size, your bathroom will never have enough room for clutter and mess. Not only does it look dirty, but it also takes up valuable space for other items. Don’t let sanitary ware and bathroom accessories build up. Just put them back in their rightful place after use.

Lighting

The right lighting makes all the difference. The bathroom is one of the only places where you can get creative with lighting. During the day, it can be bright and airy to make it look bigger and open. But, at night, you can create a spa-like feel with spotlights on the floor. Illuminate the focal points in your bathroom to show off the biggest and best accessories.

Mirrors

Another good way to make it look brighter and bigger. Mirrors reflect the natural light from the windows and the fixtures, especially if you have a full-length mirror. Another ‘must have’ is a mirror above the sink. Both the full length and the bathroom mirror create a glamorous tone and style.

Storage

Storage is easy. Mainly, people go wrong with storage because they try to separate storage from the bathroom. Incorporate it with bathroom mirrors that open up and a sink complete with drawers.

I've been in love with the beautiful curves and the uniqueness of the Panton chair since I found out about it in our Furniture Design class. This chair for me is one of the most beautiful designs ever created that's why I've been using it in my design projects in school. :)

Before I talk about Interior Motives, allow me first to express my fascination with the Bizu Patisserie. :) The Interior was wonderful! I was amazed honestly for I am a huge fan of whites and purples. I also can’t help but notice the delicately crafted details found on the walls.

Here’s another design diary! :) It’s a modern-classic bedroom which exemplifies the minimalist theory. The color scheme is black, white and greens specifically seafoam green and pastel turquoise. The owner of this bedroom is a Goth chick who has a heart for the Victorian period. Greens were used to balance the room. The tufted bed piece was also incorporated to showcase the Victorian era and to maintain the “Goth-ness” of the owner. White was also used to create an illusion of space since the room is small. The black outlines the room which showcase the goth and black personality of the owner yet doesn’t create darkness in the space. 

The Modernity of the Tufted is a bedroom where practicality meets personality.
