Happy Sunday dreamers! For today's Sunday Spotlight, I'll be featuring one of the most inspiring and sweetest bloggers in the world!

Kisty Mea, the style mermaid, is one of those bloggers who made me blog. I love her blog so much and to be honest, I fantasize her lifestyle! I think "Ate" Kisty will forever be my favorite blogger. *wink. I've been her avid reader for 2 years now. When I first stumbled upon her blog, her hair was Ariel red. Now, it's turquoise/blue! :) I first met her at Tumblr Fair 1 (2012) and I just have to blurt out that she is so sweet, so friendly, so kind, and so pretty!

Here's the interview I did. Read on, you'll surely love her too!

1. Hello ‘Ate’ Kisty, can you please tell us a little about yourself? And what’s your blog about?

Hello to the readers of Rae! My name is Kisty and I'm a 20-something blogger, explorer and creative spirit from Manila, Philippines. If we bought buy an ice cream cone, rest assured that I'll be the first one to finish. I am just crazy for vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

2. How would you define your style?

My style? I'd say versatile. I'm mostly a laid-back, girly, chic, preppy kind of style, but if I wanted to, or feel like it, I could go edgy or boho. I hate labels, I don't want to be limited to just one kind of style.

3. Whose style do you admire and what are your must-have fashion pieces?

Right now? No one in particular. But a fashion must-have? Definitely a white tee!!!

4. What is your go-to outfit?

Shirt, denim shorts, and Converse. You could never go wrong with it!

5. What are your interests?

Traveling!!!! I love, love, love traveling. I'm also into photography and graphic design. Anything that's related to the field of arts, basically. :)

6. I’m a big fan of your photos and I find them really inspiring! Can you please tell us a little something about the history of why you’re into photography?

It started with my Multimedia Arts class. We studied photography for a short while, and I've learned to love it! :) A few months later, I bought my first SLR then started taking photos like crazy. My boyfriend even gave me a book to help me improve in this craft. Doing a Project 365, regardless if it has a theme, can also help you improve your skills!

7. Do you have a favorite photo or one that is very special to you?

Oh, this is tough. I take tons of photos that it's hard to choose. But I guess, this photo will always be memorable to me. My boyfriend, as mentioned earlier, gave me a book about photography and I tried one of the tips written there. So one New Year's Eve, I took a bunch of photos and with a stroke of luck, I was able to capture this shot:

8. Where do you get your inspirations from?

When it comes to photography? Or life in general? I don't have any specific sources, to be honest. I like to browse websites, skim through magazines and resources. From there, I keep track of the ones I like (whether it's fashion, design, photography style, and so on).

9. By the way, I’m also a big fan of your hair! :”) I was wondering, when did you decide to finally dye it red, then mint green, then pink? Or what pushed you to finally do it?

I took the plunge to go red because I really, really wanted to achieve Ariel's red hair. And I was successful in doing that. :) Not to mention, that gave me an idea what it feels like to have bleach hair (since I had the tips ombre-fied).
But going blonde? That was a HUGE risk! I was scared to go blonde until I took a selfie with me wearing a blonde wig. A lot of people said that blonde suits me, so that's where I got my courage to push through it. :)

I loved my blonde hair so much, that it took me months before dyeing it into mint green. But the mint green faded pretty fast, and I got lazy to retouch. Too bad, the pink dye didn't react the same way because it's been 3 weeks now, and it's still bright!

10. Any funny or interesting hair story that you would like to share?

Ever since I dyed my hair pink, I've been getting lots of attention from strangers and people who meet me. I don't mind really, but it wasn't like this when I was still blonde or had mint green hair.

There was this superstition in the province that you could get sick from receiving compliments. So my relatives would always say "Pwera Usog" as protection. Anyway, I went to a blog event one night and they were all amazed with my pink hair, like literally every one I would come across. And when I came home, for reasons I don't understand, I developed a mild fever. Haha!

11. What do you like most about travelling?

OKAY I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN. I definitely love capturing the sights, because photography is my biggest souvenir from a trip. I also love the culture, witness the way of life of the who live in this foreign land. And of course, the shopping of things that are unavailable here. HEHEHEHE.

12. If you’re given a chance, where would you like to live and why?

Anywhere in Europe, hopefully where English is a common language, and it's not a war zone. To be more specific? London!

13. What are your simple joys?

Cuddles with my boyfriend. Sleeping. Getting work done! Being able to cook something and it taste good.

14. Your favorite dessert?

Vanilla ice cream!

15. Do you have a collection? If you do, when did you start collecting it?

Hmm... My collection changes from time to time? Right now, I'm into vintage cameras!

16. If you could be a Disney princess, who would you be and why?

Ariel... because mermaids! But I could relate to Merida the most.

17. If you could invite a historical personality to a tea party, who would it be and why?

I want to invite Marilyn Monroe, so we could just end the conspiracy theories... but I really want to meet Audrey Hepburn.

18. How do you see yourself in the future?

Right now, I have no idea! Like, really. I'm in that stage where I'm trying to figure things out (which explains my lack of blog entries lately). Hopefully, I'll know soon. But I'm sure I'm still blogging!

19. Random facts about you.

When there's something incredibly funny, I tend to laugh with one eye close, I don't know why. But my friends find it funny and tease me that I'm a pirate. Arr! :p

20. What’s your message to all your readers, to the aspiring photographers, and to everyone around the globe who wants to be just like you?

Continue doing what makes you happy, regardless of what other people say. Do it for you. Do it for those who wants to see you fail. And always remain humble! :)

  1. That's very sweet featuring Kisty Mea, the style mermaid in this post - great interview! I love the red on black print empire waist dress styled with the pastel blue cardigan in the first photo, and I also love all of the different hair colours and styles. The mint green and pink are my favourites. I really enjoyed this Sunday Spotlight!
