Little Treasures: PE Collectibles

***************************
I love trinkets and treasures just like Ariel of the Little Mermaid. :) And so, I came up with this blog section which I'd like to call, LITTLE TREASURES! Here in Little Treasures, I will share to you my great finds! From clothes, jewelry, accessories, books, trinkets, to artworks and paintings, and anything under the sun which I like and which you might like as well. Hope you'll enjoy this little section of my blog.~

***************************

Hello dreamers! Time for another little treasures on my blog. This time, my love for vintage is being exposed as this little etsy shop I discovered is like an emporium of lovely and unique finds. PE Collectibles is where one can find quality vintage jewelry and collectibles and it was established in 2008! For all vintage-lovers out there, allow yourselves be exposed to this wonderful shop as you read what the owner, Erica, has to say.

I'm really lucky to be able to interview her! :) Read the interview after the jump!~

1. Hello Erica! Why PECollectibles? How did you come up with the name?

P stands for Paul (my husband who often helps me with computer questions I have related to Etsy He is a computer systems analyst) and of course E for Erica!

2. Can you please tell us the story behind your shop?

I sell vintage items from many different time periods with a focus on jewelry. The items in my shop are found at garage sales, estate sales, flea markets and rummage sales. I live in the suburbs and taught special education for seven years. Right now I am stay at home mom and teach Spanish part time. I’ve always enjoyed collecting vintage items with a focus on Lucille Ball and Grace Kelly memorabilia.

After having little to no financial success at flea markets and sales, a friend suggested selling on Etsy. I was inspired! I knew I had the ability to make this into a nice little part time business. My other hobbies include card making, seeing musicals and writing.

3. Where do you get your inspirations from?

I am a huge Lucille Ball fan. Lucille once said "The more things you do, the more you can do." I truly believe this. My husband and family have supported me in this endeavor. I get to do something I love!

4. Do you have a favorite piece in your shop? or is there any vintage piece which is the most special to you? and why?

My favorite piece in my shop has to be a book called the Story of Mary’s Little Lamb by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ford. It is a rare book and quite unique. I love the fact that it is a cross collectible. I also love that it tells the true store of Mary’s Little Lamb that we all know so well. I found this book at a local flea market, I knew it was a great item the moment I saw it.

5. I love the vintage photos you offer in your shop! Where did you get them? Are they from your own personal collection?

The vintage photos have been purchased at flea markets. The movie star photos photographs are from my own personal collection given to me by my father who purchased them at a local flea market.

6. How did you come up with selling vintage pieces?

I decided to sell vintage because I wanted to share my passion and love of all things vintage. It is a nice way to earn extra money and have the flexibility of working at home so I can spend more time with my son.

7. What's your message to your buyers, admirers, and to all the vintage collectors out there?

The message I have to my buyers and all collectors really is my tag line 'Everything old is new again..." Styles always resurface and vintage items can be re-purposed into new and exciting ways. Not only do vintage items stir feelings of nostalgia but re-using them can inspire a green way of thinking.
